Good News - We are Going Green!
Posted on February 10, 2011 10:28 am
WASHINGTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
We have decided to go Green with our electricity. It will cut our cost and at the same time be better for our environment.
In the past, Jersey Central Power & Light Company (JCP&L), your local distribution company (LDC), provided every aspect of your electric service. This included generating the electricity and delivering it to your home or business. THROUGH THE NEW JERSEY ENERGY CHOICE PROGRAM YOU ARE ABLE TO CHOOSE AN ELECTRIC GENERATION SUPPLIER, ALSO REFERRED TO AS A THIRD-PARTY SUPPLIER LIKE (VIRIDIAN ENERGY) TO GENERATE THE ELECTRICITY. JCP&L WILL CONTINUE TO DELIVER THE ELECTRICITY AND MAINTAIN THE SAME POLES AND WIRES. Nothing changes except your variable rate will save money on your electric bill over the course of the year.
We have chosen Viridian Energy as our supplier of Green Energy while keeping JCP&L for delivery and service. We are excited about our choice and the savings it will generate.
YOU can help the Church raise monthly cash by selecting Viridian Energy as your home source of electricity. It will cost you nothing to elect Viridian Energy on our United Methodist Church replicated website and the Church will receive $2.00 each time you pay your electric bill. No contracts to sign or any fees to elect Viridian Energy.
You can sign up online or through the mail. For instructions on how to sign up, call the church office at 908-689-0105. If you have questions, ask Carol Appleby, Kathy Vlossak or Pastor Bill.
Three Sunday Worship Services available - 8:00, 9:15, and 10:30AM
Posted on September 27, 2006 9:13 am
Our 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning service centers on the weekly celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The service, held in our magnificent, century-old sanctuary, is informal and inviting. Music is led by our Associate Music Direcctor and informal Men’s Choir. Dr. Noll’s morning sermon seeks to interpret and apply the Scripture lessons to our daily lives. He also has a special message for children who attend, and there are “Busy Bags” available for their use. The sanctuary has a rocking chair for those caring for infants.
The sanctuary is handicapped accessible, and large print bulletins and hymnals are available for use.
Our “Connectional” 9:15 a.m. service is held in our beautiful, modern Fellowship Hall. This informal service for all ages features music led by our church band, “Greenstone.” Greenstone plays a variety of Christian music in a contemporary style, including original compositions. Words to the songs are projected on a screen so that hands are free to clap along with the beat. Dr. Noll’s message often includes an opportunity to interact with him and other worshippers.
Parents and children come to worship together as a family. After the opening songs, prayers and announcements, children ages 3 to 18 go to their Sunday School classes. Those with children under age 3 can use the rocking chair in Fellowship Hall, or our near-by, well-equipped nursery.
The Fellowship Hall is accessible for wheelchairs. Coffee and other refreshments are available during the service.
Our 10:30 a.m. “Family Service” is held in our beautiful sanctuary, built over one hundred years ago with brilliant stained glass windows and a glorious Gerger pipe organ. Worship is led by our clergy, Music Director and choir, with a special Children’s Message each week. The hand bell and children’s choirs perform on special occasions. Dr. Noll’s sermon helps us understand the meaning of the Scriptures and relate them to our daily lives. A well-equipped nursery with child care by qualified care-givers is available for those up through age five. We also have “Busy Bags” for children remaining in worship, and a rocking chair for those caring for infants. The sanctuary is handicapped accessible, and large print bulletins and hymnals are available.
