Children’s Ministries

Sunday School

Our Sunday School is led by well- qualified teachers trained and led by our Children’s Coordinator, Becky May. Children and youth ages three through eighteen meet at 9:15 a.m. in Fellowship Hall before going to separate classrooms. Learn what it means to be a child of God through Bible lessons, songs, prayers, and lots of FUN.

Youth Group

Young people in grades seven through twelve meet on Sundays at 6 p.m. in the Youth Room with our Youth Coordinator, Amy Cousins. The Youth Group shares fun and fellowship through discussions, Bible study, games, trips, fundraisers for service-oriented activities and much more. Amy also teaches the Youth Sunday School class.

Vacation Bible School

Our church offers a one week Vacation Bible School each summer much to the delight of the children. Our VBS program is a great sharing of stories, crafts, music, food and fun for children ages three to eleven.

Drama Club

Our Drama Club provides children with an opportunity to be creative and develop their self-confidence through skits and plays presented in church worship and other settings. The Club meets for lunch on Sunday mornings at 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Movie and a Meal

On occasional Saturdays, children age 3 through grade 6 are invited to join in an afternoon of a movie, food, crafts and games.

Acolytes

Older children are trained to serve as acolytes and cross bearers for our 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The Box

Our youth group sponsors an occasional Saturday evening coffee house with live music for teens and young adults in our community.

Intermediate Fellowship

Our church group for fourth, fifth and sixth graders meets occasionally for spiritual discussions, worship, games, music, and videos. Fellowship members specialize in making crafts that they sell to church members and friends in order to raise funds for mission projects.

Children and Worship

Children are an integral part of the life of our congregation. Each Sunday morning, children and their families gather together in the Fellowship Hall for worship at 9:15 a.m. After some opening songs, prayers and announcements, the children and their teachers go to their Sunday School classes, while adults remain for worship. Child care by qualified care-givers is available on request for those under age 3, and there is a rocking chair in the rear of the hall for those who wish to care for their infant children in worship.

Our 10:30 service in our magnificent sanctuary is also designed to be family friendly. Dr. Noll or one of the other church leaders has a special Children’s Message each week. The children’s choir performs on special occasions. The staffed nursery is available for those up through age five. We also have “Busy Bags” for children remaining in worship, as well as a rocking chair in the back of the sanctuary.

Safe Sanctuaries

Our congregation has enacted a “Safe Sanctuaries” policy for the protection of our children. Copies of the policy are available upon request.

Outreach and Mission

IHN

Our church works with Warren County’s Interfaith Hospitality Network to provide housing, meals and support for homeless families. Families are welcomed to live in our church building for a week several times during the year, on a rotating basis with other congregations in the county.

The pantry is sponsored by the churches in the Washington area and housed in the local Presbyterian Church. Our church collects food and provides volunteers. Each year at our Souper Bowl of Caring on Super Bowl Sunday we collect canned goods and financial donations for our local Food Pantry.

Thanksgiving Baskets

In conjunction with NORWESCAP, food items for a Thanksgiving meal are collected and distributed to area families. Any surplus food is given to the Food Pantry.

Thanksgiving Day Dinner*

Every year our church hosts a complete family style turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day for anyone who, for any reason, would not otherwise be able to enjoy such a meal.

Community Lunch*

On the third Saturday of each month – and every Saturday during Lent - the churches of the parish and community, and several businesses and fraternal organizations take turns hosting a free lunch of soup, sandwiches, beverages and dessert in our Fellowship Hall. The meal, served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. is open to all who are interested.

Samaritan’s Purse
Operation Christmas Child

Each year, we fill wrapped shoe boxes with Christmas gifts to send to hurting children around the world. Our church building serves as the relay station for other groups in the area participating in the program.
